Yasmin Correa (she/her/hers) is a South Asian/Goan American multidisciplinary artist, educator and community organizer who is based in Portland, OR.
Born in 1999 in Boston, MA, she grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Portland, OR in 2017. She received her BFA in Painting at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Spring 2021. Correa has shown work throughout many local galleries in Portland and has shown work previously at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Correa recently showed work at Powell’s City of Books in Portland, OR.
Working through living experiences, Correa draws this to her inspiration in her work and aims to tackle evolving emotions from those experiences, by using a intuitive process in her work.
Outside of her arts practice, Correa is an experienced arts and educator for school-aged youth - emphasizing diversity, inclusion, equity and trauma informed practices in her teaching practice. She currently works in Special Education as a Paraeducator and Direct Support Professional, helping kids with autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays succeed in communication and social emotional development skills. Additionally, Correa has been involved in helping push for student-centered advocacy, more accessible special education services for BIPOC students and families and funding for K-12 education in the state of Oregon, via community organizing in the city of Portland and within AFT's Local 111.
